Celestial Bodies – Sun, Moon and Stars

Vincent seeks to capture the sun, moon and stars beginning in Arles and continues to paint and draw them for the last three years of his life. Always drawn towards the peasant life, honorable people of the soil and the tasks of their labor are more often depicted than views of cities when Vincent work is reviewed as a whole. The link between the movements of the celestial bodies and the lighting and season seems to fit nicely with the challenge of painting night scenes and the illumination they provide as well as trying to allow the viewer to feel the energy of a Provence midsummer sun.
