Description:

The dating of this painting is difficult to pinpoint as it is is not described precisely in any surviving correspondence.  Pickvance of the Metropolitan Museum of Art argues this is is his first painting outside of the walls of St Remy and is done at roughly the same time as “Mountainous Landscape  behind St. Paul’s Hospital” f: 611.
