Vincent employs impressionistic brush strokes in capturing his image in what appears to be a painter’s smock.  The familiar level-browed gaze of intensity is again captured, this time with a blue gray eye color, more in harmony with the background he selected of dark blue to black. The smock and hair are completed in vertical strokes with the cobalt and white stroked smock reflecting some brown-orange from his hair and trimmed beard.
