A view in late summer from the top of the hill in Montmartre, probably close to where the cemetery sits today. Vincent’s palette of color is lightening as he captures the landscape of Paris below with smokestacks and building outlines. To the left is the Moulin Radet windmill.  In comparison to a piece done from the slightly different view from the apartment on Rue Lepic the brothers share, this work with the windmill of Montmartre at top left has an impasto sky of blues and whites in thick, horizontal and diagonal brushstrokes.
