A former W occurrence/mine located in secs. 30 & 31, T8N, R6W, SBM, 1.3 km (0.8 mile) NNW of Silver Peak [2] (coordinates of record), (13 air miles W of Helendale). The property is comprised of 440 acres. Produced during the periods of 1938, the 1940’s and 1952. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. NOTE: The geographic coordinates presented in USGS MRDS database file #10035328 are in error and place this locality in section 32. Mineralization is hosted in limestone. Scheelite occurs in a quartz vein cutting garnet-epidote-quartz tactite bodies that exist at the contact between metamorphic rocks and granite (?). Associated rocks include Late Cretaceous granite. Coliated rocks strike slightly N of E and dip gently S. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided. Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 1,800 feet of zig-zag trenches, 10 feet wide and 6 to 10 feet deep plus one 65 foot shaft with no underground mining. Ore was being mined from a bench cutting into a trenched area about 50 feet N of the shaft (1953). A few hundred tons of ore yielded during the first half of 1952 was of an undisclosed grade.
