In 1919, John Coulston buys out D.M. Linnard and becomes co-owner of the California Hotel Company which comprised the luxurious Huntington, Maryland and Green Hotels in Pasadena. They envision a renewed golf course, the addition of an airport and some financial restructuring to make all this happen. the Pasadena Evening News reports the Pasadena Board of Trade (Linnard, DeMille, others) plan to use the southeast 50 acres of the club property as an airport. Ground transport to local hotels was provided upon landing from this short lived, but very first, municipal airport in the United States.
